Wearing the many different hats that I do, I often come across pretty cool online stuff that makes work and hobbies a little easier, a little more fun, and quite often both. I’m constantly in awe at the amazing work web / app developers do to fill the little niches in life we never even knew existed.
The best way to learn about these cool tech-related advances is through word of mouth, and it’s through the immeasurably helpful Irish foodie network that I’ve heard of most of them.
I was introduced to Pinterest – which is now taking the online world by storm – over fresh fish and prosecco at Matt the Threshers with a great bunch of foodie friends. I now lose an inordinate amount of time I don’t have on the online Bermuda Triangle that is Pinterest – step into it once, and I warn you, three hours of your life will disappear and you will emerge from a haze feeling like a creative genius, while all you’ve really done is become one with your desk chair.
And my latest online indulgence also comes via @IrishFoodies, and it’s called Labelizer.
Yep, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Yes, yes, one can create amazing home labels with even the most basic of graphic design software, but can you honestly tell me it’s this easy?
So far the uses my creativity-starved imagination (I wear a suit to work, ’nuff said) have included gifting homemade preserves (er, Mum’s marmalade, specifically), creating little wedding / baby-shower favours (who says they have to be labels for food?), and slapping them on little kilner jars at dinner parties, using recipes such as this.
They seem to change their label style every once in a while, which only adds to the fun, check it out for yourself!
Oh, ps, they do a beer labelizer too, for the more adventurous of you!
